« If time be of all things the most precious, wasting time must be the greatest prodigality. »
Our brand-new SilverFast ExpressScan feature is an intelligent scanning method that can save you a lot of scanning time. If several images are in the correct position on the flatbed, time savings of up to 75% are possible while maintaining the same image quality. The German patent application pending ExpressScan is included with our SilverFast Archive Suite from version 9.1 and it is automatically activated for batch scans, JobManager scans and SAC scans (Single Archive Command), if the position of the scan frames allows it. Our example measurement with the Epson Perfection V850 illustrates the potential of this new functionality:

How do you disable it when it doesn’t work? It seems to just want to run ExpressScan now and I can’t get any scanning done. I’m scanning developed photos with a V850 Pro, and it just freezes up the scanner.
Dear Brian,
You can disable the ExpressScan functionality in the SilverFast preferences. Open the “Special” tab and uncheck the ExpressScan checkbox.
Anyhow, the ExpressScan shouldn’t freeze your scanner. For technical assistance you may want to contact our support staff.

Using Epson Perfection V850 Pro, Silverfast 9.1.2 SAC, ExpressScan checked in “Preferences/Special”, I think I now know why I’m getting “Normal Scan Performance” as shown here earlier.
My slides are a mix of portrait and landscape mode.
Am I right?
Thanks.
Dear John,
Correct, the same scanning resolution is required for all scan frames. Maybe you can assort your slides to not have portrait and landscape format on your flatbed at the same time.
Best Regards
