An Ideal Flat-Bed Scanner & Software For Photo Enthusiasts

March 18th, 2011 · No Comments · News, Reviews

As professional photographer and senior editor David Brooks is always interested in new photographic equipment and technologies. He has been digitizing his own work since the early 1990s, always striving to achieve the best possible image quality. Therefore, he has tested a wide range of flatbed and film scanners, but always took SilverFast as the best choice regarding the software component.

David Brooks has now extensively tested the CanoScan 9000F in combination with SilverFast Archive Suite. He is convinced by its batch scanning and processing workflow, which, he says, does only take half the time the conventional way would do. Besides presenting this new scanner, Mr. Brooks is also introducing his SilverFast workflow and explaining many of SilverFast’s buttons and features. This part could be very interesting for users new to SilverFast.

David Brooks: “I think a lot of photographers with film libraries have hoped for a flat-bed that will scan prints as well as both 120 and 35mm film that delivers results close to that of a dedicated film scanner. Well, the Canon CanoScan with SilverFast running it is just about there – the dream has been realized to a very large extent. “
